If they don't play the hell of of it, it isn't all that. I like Spongebob, though not quite as much as my kids. (Doesn't explain El Dorado, that gets played far more often than it deserves). This was an enjoyable, but not exceptional DVD. Around here the measure of a DVD is the encore factor. It hasn't been played a second time, even by my 7 year old who watches SB every day. I wouldn't waste the cash on this one, you'll get more enjoyment out of the endless re-runs they play on Nick.
The DVD is great, I am trying to teach my grandson Spanish & he loves Spongebob so this DVD offers it in both languages. I can actually make Spongebob educational. I received it quickly and in great condition.
After getting the first 100 episodes box set of the show I felt that this movie would be a neat add on to the set, and while it's cute and has a decent storyline after so many years the movie suffers from what other animated shows do it just felt like a hour an a half episode that really had nothing new or really exciting to worry about. Krabs personality Sponebob and his faithful friend Patrick go on a journey to secure the crown and find the real culprit of the theft. The only new thing you'll see in the movie is when Spongebob becomes enraged at Mr. Crabs for passing him over for promotion and after King Neptune's accusations on Mr.Crabs about his theft of King Neptune's crown Spongebob's own less than stellar defense of Mr. Again the movie is of course meant to entertain kids and fans of the show so if you're not a kid and not a fan you'll probably want to pass this movie over since it won't hold to much entertainment for you most likely. The animation is near the recent season so the video and audio are both pretty good and some of the extras are decent to but all in all the movie should really just be seen by fans of the show or kids so again if you're neither than you should just pass the movie over and try something else to your taste.
The humor is not as sophisticated as some of the adult cartoons that are on the air now, so perhaps, Spongebob is more suited to a younger audience. There was a lot of movement in the animation, making it a little more action orientated as well.
Gosh, we were like 15 and we did not even care. That being said, I did not care for this movie. I'll admit it: I'm a Spongebob junkie. The writers make great 12-minute episodes, but apparently nothing good comes from trying to make longer plots. I've seen almost all of the episodes, multiple times. I saw this movie when it came out in theatres with a fellow Spongebob freak. It also has some disturbing parts for younger kids, so I don't even let my niece watch it when it comes on TV. She's a big fan of the episodes as well. All in all, stick with the original shows.
